When the Streetcars Came to Urbandale

1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Urbandale Public Library
Meeting Room A/B
The streetcar line played an important role in Urbandale’s history. Downtown workers, miners, students, and families depended on this form of transportation to and from Des Moines.

Earl Short, known for his extensive collection of trolley photos from the early 1900’s to the advent of the curbliners in the 1950’s, will present a visual program of highlights on the Urbandale line.
Virginia Gee, of the Urbandale Historical Society, will review the streetcar’s place in Urbandale’s development as depicted in Lawson Trolley Park.
Celebrate Urbandale’s Centennial by attending this unique program sponsored by the Urbandale Public Library and the Urbandale Historical Society.
There is no charge to attend.
